One strategy that is sometimes used to dissuade further infidelity is to have the unfaithful spouse sign an “infidelity post-nuptial agreement,” consenting to some specified financial payment (or another significant item of value) to be paid if they cheat again. Such agreements, also known as “lifestyle clauses” can be drafted by family law attorneys. Reasons for Infidelity Post-Nuptial Agreements Manhattan-based divorce lawyer Jacqueline Newman explains the typical underlying reasons for post-nuptial agreements: they are “often done after there has been some element of infidelity in the marriage. The person who has strayed tries to assure his/her spouse that it will not happen again and to prove the sincerity of this promise, he commits to putting pen to paper to show how sorry he is.”  She cautions against these agreements because, “If you over-commit in the document just to get that second chance, you take the risk that your spouse will wait just until the ink is dry to call his/her divorce attorney now that they know they are going to get a good deal.” Ms. Newman believes that sometimes postnups may be what is needed for the couple to move forward. “In a less skeptical tone, they can sometimes work because if a spouse does believe that their straying spouse was willing to in essence ‘pay’ for his/her sins, it shows that they are committed, and that may be all that is needed to get the couple back on track.” She notes, “Post-nuptial agreements are much less common than prenuptial agreements, but we definitely have our fair share of them in my office. Attorney Opinions on Infidelity Agreements A money deterrent usually isnt enough to stop a wealthy would-be cheater. ~ Andrew G. Vaughn, attorney and professor Andrew G. Vaughn, attorney, owner of NuVorce, and Professor of Domestic Relations Law at Loyola University Chicago School of Law says  that these lifestyle clauses are most common with celebrity clients. Professor Vaughn states, “They dont work. Wealthy people have a lot of money. A money deterrent usually isnt enough to stop a wealthy would-be cheater.” He does not recommend them and notes that they are relatively uncommon. In fact, he asserts that it is rather complicated to draft highly enforceable contracts like these. Brandy Austin, an Arlington Texas-based family law attorney, believes postnups to deter infidelity “are actually relatively rare among lower middle to lower upper-class people. They are more for celebrities, public figures…politicians.” But, in her experience as well, these agreements in any form are not very common. “If it is included as a deterrent, the likelihood of someone cheating agreeing to give all of their assets is poor.” Ms. Austin also believes that these agreements aren’t as effective with the wealthy.  â€œIf you are already in a position to make a payout, money doesnt hold the same value and will not likely deter infidelity.” Most states are “no-fault” in terms of divorce, but in the state of Texas, courts may award a disproportionate amount of the estate in some instances of infidelity based upon the “spending the community estate on someone other than your spouse or kidsâ€"wasting community property,” says Ms. Austin. On the other hand, Randall M. Kessler, family law attorney, author, and law school professor in Atlanta, reports seeing these agreements often in his practice and believes that they are becoming more commonplace. “Not just when a spouse misbehaves, but also when a relative wants to give a spouse property but does not like the other spouse so it ‘keeps the gift in the family.” He believes they do work, and they are “enforceable in every state except Ohio and what they do, is to cause people to negotiate their divorce.  Why go to court and risk having a postnuptial agreement enforced against you if you can negotiate a little more than is required under the postnup?” He even has recommended them, for example, “When someone is mad at their spouse but does not want a divorce.” He cautions, however, “just like any family law case, think long and hard about it because once the subject is raised or lawyers get involved, feelings get hardened and it often spirals into a full-b lown divorce.” Jeffrey A. Landers, CDFA, the creator of the Think Financially, Not Emotionally brand of books and seminars designed to educate, empower and support women before, during and after divorce has written on this topic on Forbes online. He explains, “Lifestyle clauses address non-financial aspects of the marriage, like who will do the housework, the frequency of vacations…” They are “generally seen as guidelines for behavior within the marriage, and although they aren’t focused on assets, per se, there are usually financial penalties for failure to comply with the terms.” He states that clauses involving infidelity are the most common and popular of such lifestyle clauses. According to Mr. Landers, they are not just for celebs anymore, either. According to Pennsylvania family law attorney, Jeffrey Kash, this topic does not come up often in his practice, but these agreements are enforceable in his state. He does recommend clients “push for agreements that penalize infidelity and for other concessions in cases where a spouse has engaged in marital misconduct and wants to stay in the marriage.” He advises pursuing these concessions “while the other spouse is feeling guilty” which helps the betrayed partner before the blame game and fighting starts. “Don’t just limit these types of agreements to infidelity with members of the opposite sex.” he also suggests. Mr. Kash describes a case that he handled several years ago, in which the husband reconciled with his wife after the wife had an affair.  As a condition of the reconciliation process, the husband requested that the wife sign a “post-nuptial agreement that would limit her marital property rights in the event that she subsequently became involved in another extramarital affair.” You can guess what happened next. Wife cheats again and the postnuptial, under which the wife had waived her right to marital property, was upheld. Negotiating an Infidelity Agreement The process of negotiating “lifestyle clauses” may open up the lines of communication between spouses, and help the marriage in unforeseen ways. These clauses might encourage people in a committed relationship to discuss fidelity issues and expectations in advance. Feelings about monogamy and infidelity will be made clear. Such communication alone can be helpful, even if the clause is never enforced.   What couples considering lifestyle clauses should really focus on is the attitude of the one who cheated:If the partner who strayed seems more than willing to do anything to save the marriage, including signing a postnup, that can be viewed as a positive step forward.If the betrayed partner has to cajole their unfaithful spouse into such an agreement, that is probably a strong indication that the cheating behavior isn’t likely to change. Nasim Pedrad, From Iran to SNL to Scream Queens

Nasim Pedrad, an Iranian-American comedic actress, portrays Gigi in the Comedy Horror television series produced by Fox. Pedrad left Saturday Night Live in 2014 after five years on the iconic comedy show. Her impressions of Arianna Huffington, Kim Kardashian, Barbara Walters, Kelly Ripa and Gloria Allred were highlights of the show. In 2015, she made two guest appearances on New Girl. Born in Iran, Nov. 18, 1981, she lived in Tehran with her parents, Arasteh Amani and Parviz Pedrad, until 1984 when they immigrated to the United States. She grew up in Irvine, Calif. Her parents, who live in southern California, met while both were students in Berkeley. Her father works in the medical field and her mother works in the fashion industry. Pedrad says SNL was a big part of growing up as an American. â€Å"I would watch those shows in an effort to understand American culture and assimilate, because I wasn’t necessarily getting as much of that from my parents as my American friends were,† she told Grantland, the entertainment/ESPN blog, in an interview. â€Å"I have early memories of watching the show, and knowing that it was going to help me stay in the know, even in the years when I was too young to fully understand what the sketches were about.† After one SNL show where she played the Iranian first lady, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejads wife, in a mock interview, she told the Iran News, â€Å"I love and am very proud of my Iranian heritage. Its shaped who I am as a performer, and if I ever poke fun at it, its coming from a place of love. She will join Mulaney, a new Fox sitcom created by ex-SNL writer John Mulaney, which premiers in October. She will play Mulaney’s wisecracking roommate. SNL producer Lorne Michaels will be the producer of the new show. Fox has ordered 16 episodes. Pedrad and her younger sister, Nina Pedrad, a writer for 30 Rock and New Girl, are both fluent in Farsi. â€Å"My parents did their best to speak to us in Farsi as often as they could when we were at home so we could grow up to be bilingual,† she told Grantland. She says she hopes to visit Iran some day. â€Å"My dads side of the family is still in Iran — there are so many cousins I have yet to meet.† She wrote a one-woman show called â€Å"Me, Myself and Iran,† and portrays five very different Iranian characters. SNL cast member Tina Fey saw the show and recommended Pedrad for SNL. She performed with The Groundlings, an improvisational comedy troupe based in L.A.. The show’s cast members have included other actors born outside North America such as Tony Rosato (Italy), Pamela Stephenson (New Zealand), Morwenna Banks (England), and Horatio Sanz (Chile). Iranian Immigration Pedrads family joined a large number of Iranians who immigrated to the U.S. after the Iranian Revolution of 1979. According to U.S. Census data and independent surveys done by Iranian-Americans in 2009, there were an estimated 1 million Iranian-Americans living in the U.S. with the largest concentration — about 520,000 — living around Los Angeles, particularly Beverly Hills and Irvine. In Beverly Hills, about 26% of the total population is Iranian Jewish, making it the city’s largest religious community. There are so many people of Iranian-Persian descent living around Los Angeles that the city is often referred to as Tehrangeles by those in the community. Artist Deconstruction: A Starry Night If there is one thing in this life that cannot be escaped, it is art. Art takes over our visual and audio senses as well as sensation of touch and emotion. Not only does art take over our senses, but it also does something wonderful to our mental status. Some art can touch us on a very deep emotional level. I have chosen to write about a portrait painted by Vaccine van Gogh called Starry Night, which was painted in June 1889. This painting depicts the view outside van Sago’s sanitarium room window at night. How does van Gogh use visual imagery to depict the four visual cures in this painting? How does the physiology of the eye help see the four visual cures? The visual cortex has cells that respond to a spot of light while others noted the edges of objects, certain angles of lines, specific movements, colors or the space between lines (Lester 2011). The use of visual imagery is used in the form of color, form, depth and movement. The first thing that I noticed in this painting was the overwhelming night sky, which takes up most of the background. The color that is most prominent in the painting is blue. This has a connection with the sea and sky which each relate to movement of the cool dark colors. Eleven fiery yellow stars that look like huge fireballs illuminate this whole piece and contrast with the cool blue, fluid night sky which shows variety of shades of blue and grey. There is also the crescent moon at the top right hand corner that radiates an almost orange, brighter light from the rest of the stars. The view of the night sky and village is partially blocked by this huge cypress tree. The tree has a black and green coloring which stands out. The houses are tiny and painted in the bottom right corner of the painting and blend in well with the forest and mountains. The architecture of the village is simple and no light illuminates the village, giving the impression that everyone there is probably asleep. The use of form is evident in this painting by the use of the use dot to dot effect and with the use of lines. The dot to dot effect leads your eyes in a particular way oiling over the hills. The spacing between the stars and the curving shapes create a dot to dot effect. The use of lines that are swirling, appear to be swishing across the background in a wax. Y motion and seem to be merging at the center to form this spiral like formation. All of the swirling lines in the sky direct your eyes around the painting. Both forms have a lot to do with movement within the painting as I believe the forms, shapes and spirals in the painting are meant to be a meaner of expression and used to convey emotion. This is an abstract painting, which creates depth by using texture cues by conveying depth to the edges and texture to boundaries. I perceive this painting of having an illusion of constantly being in motion. The uses of horizontal lines is used to create depth in the night sky, while the vertical lines on the cypress tree draw the viewer to the object as it takes over the countryside. The curving lines of the cypress tree mirror the sky, which also create depth in the painting. Since humans see in three dimensions the use of depth in this painting is brought out by the size, color, ND lighting and through perspective. The painting also has movement as it shows motion and has what I perceive to be a sense of flowing movement. The pattern of the waves with in the cypress tree, the layers of lines within the stars and the spiral in the sky all amplify the sense of motion. The lines in the painting show movement in the sky as well as distance. The lines that make up the building get thinner as your eye looks further and deeper into the painting. The use of texture within the painting is visually meant to provide a ensue of motion along with the curvy forms in the sky giving the illusion of the wind blowing. My interpretation of Starry Night is Just one of the many and it remains very much an elusive work to art critics and students alike. Because nobody really knows Van Sago’s intention of painting this piece, everybody seems to be using different codes to decipher what Van Gogh was trying to bring across. For me, the painting communicated this love he had for Gods beautiful creations, and yet, there is this sense of loneliness as if no one really saw the world as he saw it. The country was in a rut and held itself there. Steinbeck was trying to capture an average depression swept family. In this search he created the Joads. Banks began to foreclose on farms and people became homeless. The losses of everything they owned caused people to have no choice. The only way was to leave. They were driven from their land. A difficult struggle lied ahead for the people. They left with everything they owned. There was so little, they strapped it onto, usually to a rundown old pick-up truck. With Steinbeck trying to show the real life issues intermitanly introduced all the political aspects and outlooks of the depression. He would, in odd chapters, show the aspects that lay for everyone, not just the Joads. Stein beck often showed the prejudice and hatred for the migrants. Somewhere around the middle of the book an okie family stops at a roadside 66 truck stop. They are hoping to buy some bread with the mere money they have rationed. The waitress is very bitter and tries to get rid of the man. She turns down his needs for a half a loaf of bread. her boss turns and reprimands her. The man is sold a small amount of br ead for his money. The man turns to see his little boys gazing at the candy case. It eats at his stomach to know that he cant afford to buy his boys candy. The man timidly asks if t!he candy is penny candy. The waitress replies no. The man aches. The waitress turns and states that its two for a penny. Smiling as they head down the road the waitress feels good about herself as the candies were a nickel a piece. The depression and all the migrant brought a lot of spite and anger. But in a few cases it also caused people to draw up a kinder side of the waitress Mae, was shown by Steinbeck. Probably the biggest act of kindness Steinbeck shows is in the end of the novel. The biggest symbols found by myself lead to the loss. Rose of Sharon Joad loses her baby before she delivers. Afterwards, as were very familiar with comes great flooding. This is where Steinbeck shows the coming generosity. Rose of Sharon breast feeds a starving stranger, saving a life. The effect on people because of the depression is shown by Steinbeck. He shows the kindness and the bitterness that came to our country. The effect comes from death and poverty just the same as any time period but the cause was much stronger- the depression.
